Vertevis Invests in ecoworks
Jul 28, 2023
Frankfurt, Germany – Vertevis is excited to support Ecoworks in their Series A round. The company decarbonizes the largest asset class in the world – real estate. Construction and operation of buildings emit almost 40% of greenhouse gas emissions while 50% of overall waste is produced in the construction sector. To fight that and achieve carbon neutrality, European governments impose restrictions on renting energy-inefficient buildings. In France, that will no longer be possible to rent G-rated buildings from 2024, F buildings – from 2028. In the Netherlands, such changes will be enacted in 2030. European Commission plans to achieve at least D-class energy efficiency by 2033. With such an approach, 1.5m multi-family houses in Germany have to be renovated in the next 10 years which translates into enormous total available market for Ecoworks.
Ecoworks developed a unique approach for the renovation of such buildings. First, the company develops a renovation plan using its proprietary software which allows to reduce the modelling stage to several days. Ecoworks scans a building, creates its digital twin, and uses the internal library of objects to provide a customer with a detailed renovation plan with a schedule and accurate pricing. Next, Ecoworks manufactures façade and roof elements and assembles prefabricated materials on a construction site covering a building in a new skin with an insulation layer. Buildings also get new ventilation, pipes, electrical lines, solar panels, and heat pumps. Installation takes only 2-3 weeks and the whole renovation process is multiple times shorter with Ecoworks than through conventional retrofitting.
It is hard to underestimate the impact Ecoworks can make on the German way to carbon neutrality and the company already experiences rapid growth executing on its extensive pipeline. Investment in Series A gives Vertevis an opportunity to support Ecoworks CEO and founder Emanuel Heisenberg his team in further development of software and hardware components of the business and scaling the operations nationwide.
